Orahealth Corp., Bellevue, WA, has introduced all-natural Cankermelts oral patches, which provide rapid healing and pain relief for canker sores by ap­plying anti-inflammatory licorice root extract and collagen. Ac­cording to the company, canker sore sufferers can experience per­sistent pain for one to two weeks of normal healing time. In clinical studies conducted at the University of Washington, 81% of subjects using Cankermelts had no more base pain (pain with no irritation) after three days of use. And treated ulcers shrank by 90% over seven days, while untreated ulcers grew larger. Cankermelts adhere to gums, teeth or braces to protect cuts and sores, speed healing and relieve pain.
